Pillion Riding Banned! Yesterday, Maulana Adil Khan was martyred in a brutal assassination attempt. He was one of the leading man of letters in the religious domain. In the wake of this incident, The government of Sindh is taking several actions to avoid further unrest in the city of Lights. One major step taken is the ban on pillion riding on a motorcycle for a month.
Pillion Riding Banned
An official announcement in written has been released by the Sindh government’s home department in this regard. The reason cited by the officials is the rise in inhumane criminal activities in Karachi such as target killings.
The people in charge of the Sindh government were persuaded by Additional Inspector General Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon, as he speculated that these offenders and other resentful factions might be on a rampage after this high profile murder. He feared that this may lead to unrest and fear among the masses, he reported his recommendation to ban pillion riding on 10th October to the home department. They immediately followed the request of AIG, so authorities can counter further targeted attacks.
The press release informed us that many such events of target killing have been reported in Karachi, Also there were reports about the smuggling of hand grenades and other weapons into the city. The city has seen a rise in attacks on law enforcement personnel and other high profile personalities.

The notification has been posted below the article which bans Pillion riding for a time period of one month on the request of IGP. The ban is made effective as soon the home department received a request letter from IGP.

Maulana Adil Khan is famously known as Shaykh-ul-Hadeeth for his contribution in the field of Hadeeth studies. He was traveling with his driver when two bike rider took them by surprise and opened fire on them near Shah Faisal Colony. The assains have not been identified by police officials yet, but a case has been registered against unknown persons.
The martyred religious tycoon belonged to the famous scholarly institution of Karachi known as Jamia Farooqia.

- Children below the age of 12 years
- Senior Citizens
- Personnel of law enforcement agencies
- Security agencies in the uniform
- Employees of the essential services
- Journalists, subject to showing their press or service cards.
