Recent development in the fight against pandemics established Pfizer as a better vaccination option for COVID19. Covid-19 has affected the whole globe. Causing damage to almost every corner of the world, it was quite sudden which propagated a lot of panic and fear in the world. That panic and fear resulted in the type of curfew and house arrest for people. As it is spreading like a rapid-fire governments throughout the world had to put restrictions and get their population vaccinated through vaccines as soon as possible to tackle this deadly disease.

Vaccines are known to be used to fight against deadly and harmful diseases like Covid-19. Most of the Vaccines are injected into the human body, and some are given orally or through the spray in the nose which makes our body’s defense system strong so that it could fight the disease.

Vaccines tonics are immune system, creates the antibodies in our system, so that when we are exposed to disease our system must be ready to fight it. Vaccines comprise of the killed or weak germs just like the virus or the bacteria, but they are not harmful to a human body at all.

The chaotic situation which Covid-19 created around the globe forced the countries to make the vaccine to stop the further damage this deadly virus was creating. However, six vaccines were approved by the WHO to be used in the situation of emergency or full time (Pfizer, Oxford–AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sinovac, Sinopharm-BBIBP, and Janssen).

At the moment the different news, rumors, and studies have made the public think through which vaccine to get vaccinated. Though WHO’s approved vaccines are known to be safe but every vaccine has a different percent of effectiveness and different side effects as well. The query in the mind of the public comes is that which is the better option or which vaccines is the safest one?

Oxford–AstraZeneca

Based on the data provided by the WHO and the manufacturer’s which shows that Oxford–AstraZeneca is known to be 63% effective, in an ongoing vaccination trial almost throughout the world, any vaccine which has at least 50% of the effectiveness is known to be safe and could help in controlling the pandemic. It is a UK-based vaccine.

The most common side effects of Oxford–AstraZeneca are; Nausea, chills, fever, muscle or joint aches, headache, and tiredness.

Oxford–AstraZeneca is listed in the 6 vaccines which are to be used for emergency and full-time use by the WHO. Used as a full-time Vaccine in Australia and Brazil.

Pfizer-BioNTech

Pfizer is the German-based vaccine produced by the German company BioNTech and the American company Pfizer, also known as the Comirnaty.

The data shows that Pfizer is 95% effective against the disease in these ongoing Covid-19 vaccination trials.

Common side effects of Pfizer are; headache, joint aches, muscle aches, pain at the injection site, tiredness, chills, fever welling at the injection site. However, experts say that after the second dose side effects can be more common.

Pfizer vaccine is leading at the moment as approved by FDA as well as offering the 85% protection against the new deadly delta-variant of Covid-19.

Moderna

Moderna is an American-based vaccine produced by the American company Moderna. It is being used as a full-time Covid-19 vaccine in UK, Australia, and Switzerland.

As per the data, it is 94.1% effective in this ongoing vaccination trial to tackle the pandemic.

Moderna is an approved vaccine for COVID19

Common side effects of Moderna are; pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site, tiredness, headache, muscle or joint aches, chills, nausea and vomiting, underarm swelling, fever.

Japan has decided to give the Moderna vaccine priority under the virus emergency areas.

Sinovac

The Sinovac vaccine is a China-based vaccine. The CoronaVac vaccination has been demonstrated to be 51 percent effective against symptomatic infection, according to manufacturer data. It was also proven to be 100 percent effective in preventing hospitalization and serious illness.

The most common side effects of Sinovac are; pain at the injection site, headache, tiredness, muscle aches.

According to a study published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases journal and latest reports, the risk of Bell’s Palsy, a type of facial paralysis, is increased after receiving Sinovac Biotech Ltd’s (SVA.O) COVID-19 vaccine CoronaVac, but this should not be a barrier to vaccination.

Sinopharm-BBIBP

Sinopharm-BBIBP is a China-based vaccine. The Sinopharm BIBP vaccine has been demonstrated to be 79 percent effective in a large-scale clinical experiment, according to information provided by the company.

Janssen Vaccine

The Johnson & Johnson vaccination is another name for the Janssen vaccine. This vaccination is manufactured by Johnson & Johnson.

Why Pfizer is the best available option among the vaccines available?

As per the latest news, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved the first COVID-19 vaccine Pfizer (today).

Becoming the first vaccine to be approved by the FDA has increased the demand for Pfizer throughout the world.

In their pivotal Phase 3 research, which ran from March 13, 2021, 927 confirmed symptomatic instances of COVID-19 were detected, indicating that the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, BNT162b2, was 91.3 percent effective against COVID-19 from seven days to six months following the second dose. The vaccination was 100 percent effective against severe disease as defined by the CDC, and 95.3 percent effective against severe COVID-19 as defined by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

It has a better efficacy rate compare to other vaccines

Pfizer Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Albert Bourla remarked, “These data tell the good efficacy and safety profile of our vaccine and position us to submit a Biologics License Application to the US FDA.” “The excellent vaccine efficiency found up to six months after a second dose and against the South African variation gives us even more confidence in our vaccine’s overall effectiveness.”

Though all approved vaccines by the WHO have met the high standards set by the FDA, Pfizer has become the first one to be fully approved, which has made the public confident about this vaccine that Pfizer meets the high standards in terms of safety and effectiveness. The FDA said in a statement that data from around 44,000 persons were included in its review for approval. The vaccine, which will be now marketed as Comirnaty, was found to be 91 percent effective in fighting the Covid-19 disease.
