Badri 313! Different news is making rounds on social media after the Takeover of the Taliban. Recently, a picture of the Taliban’s special fighter group named ‘Badri 313’ have got viral, wearing the US military gears, and raising the flag of the Taliban faction just like the six US soldiers were raising the flag on Iwo Jima (recreating iconic world war 2 images and mocking the US).

As the US prepared to evacuate last week, Taliban fighters stormed throughout the country, quickly taking territory.

Who is Badri 313?

Just like every country’s military have its special force groups. Badri 313 is also known to be the group of special fighters in the Taliban forces. They are well-trained fighters, unlike the local Taliban fighter.

The idea behind calling their group ‘Badri 313’ is the Battle of Badr in 624 CE, which is described in the Qur’an as a battle in which the Prophet Mohammed destroyed an enemy force with a force of only 313.

The group of these fighters has been well-trained and is now armed with state-of-the-art military gear.

The videos recently this week shared by the people affiliated with the Taliban show that soldiers of the Badri 313 group wearing US-made gear and holding US-made weapons which are believed to be stolen from US-allied militaries.

There is every reason to expect that now that the Taliban is in charge, the militia will increase in strength.

The Badri 313 special force varies from ordinary Taliban fighters. The picture which has got viral of Taliban fighters in which they are dressed in camouflage, combat boots, and body armor to resemble US soldiers. They also drive armored Humvees and wield M4 carbines.

Taliban says “they have defeated the US military”

As the ‘Badri 313’ is leading the news, the controversies and pressure for US authorities increases.

After the US withdrawing its forces from Afghanistan and the Taliban’s easy and successful attempt of taking over Kabul and Afghanistan following President Ashraf Ghani’s escape have made the Taliban faction consider it as their victory.

However, the US argues that they have not lost the war, it is just that they feel that they are free and secure from terrorism and their presence in Afghanistan is no longer needed.

Between 2002 and 2017, the US provided the Afghan military with an estimated $28 billion in weapons. But, as a U.S. official told Reuters on condition of anonymity, “anything that hasn’t been destroyed is now of the Taliban’s.”

The seizure of American weaponry by the Taliban also comprises advanced American aircraft which has become propaganda as Taliban forces are not trained to use or fly those advanced aircraft.

“It’s a status symbol for an armed organization to get their hands on American-made weapons. It’s a psychological victory, to be sure “According to The Hill, Elias Yousif, deputy head of the Center for International Policy’s Security Assistance Monitor.

White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan stated that “we do not have information or knowledge of where the all defense material has gone, but one thing is quite sure that Taliban are not going to hand us over those articles easily. He also added that a huge amount of weaponry-related material has fallen into their hands.

The pullout from Afghanistan was a “dumb plan” that strengthened the Taliban with US weapons and abandoned allies: Mr. Staff Sergeant

As the Pentagon and State Department hurry to withdraw thousands of Americans and Afghan allies from Afghanistan, Biden administration officials appear to have been taken off guard by the Taliban’s swift conquest of Kabul. The entire world is watching, in the meantime.

One of the Marines of the US questioned that if there was no trouble, why the US authorities are facing a problem getting everyone out from there?

Recent viral images of Taliban fighters and reports of US weaponry have put the US military and government under serious pressure. According to US sources, the Taliban currently has $28 billion worth of weaponry that the US provided to Afghan forces between 2002 and 2017.

According to the New York Post, the cargo includes seven brand new helicopters that were brought to Kabul last month, 600,000 assault rifles, 2,000 armored vehicles, and 40 aircraft, including Black Hawks.

Post War controversies

Not just the people from Afghanistan or other countries, but people of the US are also criticizing the US government on the hasty withdrawal, which has made countless Afghans vulnerable and created a chaotic situation in the Region.

US withdrawal had also made European block worried, as the issue of Afghan refugees has aroused the majority of European countries denies accepting the Afghan’s. They fear that under the cover of an Afghan refugee, those people might be the militants. Even countries which have agreed to help Afghan’s are worried about their internal stability and of terrorism.

People in the country have been left with shattered aspirations of a free future, particularly women, who fear a return of the Taliban’s harsh restrictions imposed on them in the late 1990s.

“Everything we have worked so hard to build is being lost piece by piece in Afghanistan,” said one Afghan lady, an NGO leader whose identity has been suppressed owing to safety concerns. “Our 20 years of hard work and accomplishments went in an instant.”

The thing which makes the people think that either US has won the war or not is that is there was no trouble, if they had won the war why they are facing the issue of evacuating their people? Why they are not helping the people out there amid this panic situation? Why there was no settlement among the Taliban faction and Afghan government before the withdrawal?

Taliban fighters of Badri 313 group capturing the US weapons have worsened the situation, as there might be more US and its allies left material which after being found or recovered will be of Taliban’s.

People of the US and the world see this as the carelessness of the US government and a huge loss that will benefit the Taliban in terms of military strength.

People are not happy with the US with such news coming out on social media.

It is a long-going debate of which there’s no end to be seen yet.
