The province has also directed industries and economic operations to shut down at 10 pm in Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi, with an increase in those suffering from the deadly virus.
However, the latest timings have omitted medical shops, hospitals, tandoors, printing press, call centres, and take-away from restaurants.
Separately, at 6 pm, city parks will shut.
The Lahore Restaurants Unity Association responded strongly in reaction to the provincial government ordering restaurants to be shut down at 10 pm.
The association said in a statement released by its founder, Aamer Rafique Qureshi, that most restaurants make money at night. “Rush would improve by cutting operational time for restaurants,” he said, “Which could lead to a further increase in cases of COVID-19.” He added that 40 percent of the restaurants had already permanently closed in Lahore due to the outbreak.
